Daylight Christian PrisonTrust

Daylight is a Gospel ministry, a Christian charity that exists to share the Gospel with prisoners, support prisoners during their sentences and provide practical support to ex-offenders to reduce reoffending.

With a few staff and many volunteers we currently work in over fifty of the UK’s prisons, running Sunday services, Bible studies and courses, including the prison edition of Christianity Explored, which Daylight helped to develop. Some of our people undertake the role of prison chaplains, which gives them close contact with prisoners.

We have a Letter Writing Ministry, where our volunteers write to prisoners as a support during their sentence. Many prisoners receive little or no contact from friends or family whilst inside and they appreciate having a friend to write to.

Daylight has a formal mentoring programme in Bristol and undertakes informal mentoring in other parts of the country. Through mentoring we seek to help ex-offenders find and settle into a local church where they will be discipled.

Daylight Prayer & Support Groups are central to our work. These groups are made up of individuals from local churches who meet regularly to pray for Daylight. Some of those involved also go into nearby prisons but you don’t have to go into prison to pray for us.

We have a Prayer & Support Group in Crowborough that normally meets on the second Wednesday of each month. If you would like more information about these meetings, please contact Steven St John by emailing steven@daylightcpt.org
